Creating a different approach to learning
J. Pat Newland
J. Pat has managed both small and large offices for three different international real estate franchises taking two of those offices to the number one ranking in Arkansas. Prior to moving into management, he was a regional trainer for one of those franchises.
J. Pat brings a unique blend of education and business experience to the school. He spent 15 years as a university administrator and instructor, teaching at both the University of Arkansas and the University of Texas (don't hold that against him). He has been in real estate since 1993. Having been "on the street" as a sales associate and coached hundreds of agents, he has a great perspective on what contributes to a successful real estate career. He views each student as an opportunity to grow their professionalism and to give them a unique experience motivating them to exceed their own expectations.
Because of his background, J. Pat has a different approach to teaching. In his classes, you will be involved. He believes the role of the sales associate is changing and the ability to educate your client is becoming essential. Success is intimately tied to your ability to build relationships, negotiate mutually beneficial resolutions, manage conflict and solve problems. You will be given a specific plan to successfully study and master the test material, but you WILL get more. He says, "My experience has proven you learn best by teaching. Join me for my classes, and we will learn together!"

With six years of managing offices and clients in the banking industry, followed by her rewarding role as a stay-at-home mom, she has developed a strong work ethic and an understanding of family dynamics. Her freelance writing and volunteering with the Junior Auxiliary of Rogers-Bentonville, where she served as the education chair, have further honed her communication skills and commitment to community service.

Frances focuses on practical experience, fostering collaboration, and encouraging growth, challenging her mentees to push beyond their limits and fully engage in the real estate profession.
Ken Abernathy
Ken finds great joy in working with people, which motivated his decision to transition into an instructor role after a decade of experience as an agent. Before that, Ken built a career spanning over thirty years in the trade show and event industry, a field that requires service-oriented professionals dedicated to meticulous attention to detail and adherence to timelines. Ken's interest in education was ignited after learning that helping others succeed is a great reward for the soul.
As a trade show marketing professional, he has had the privilege of teaching numerous marketing and face-to-face business courses for the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center (ASBDC) through institutions such as the University of Arkansas, Arkansas Tech, and Arkansas State University, as well as for various chambers of commerce across the state.
His personality and skill set equip him to effectively train aspiring realtors, helping them pass their examinations and comprehend the importance of the test and the substantial responsibilities of being a realtor. He still applies valuable lessons imparted by his first instructor daily. Additionally, Ken is an avid reader and a committed student of the industry.
